An alleged robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Jhaubada village in Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka district early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Abu Hanif, 30, son of Shamsul Haque, hailing from Jhalua village in Kamrangirchar area of the capital. He was accused in nine robbery cases filed with different police stations.
Rezaul Haque, officer-in-charge of
Dhamrai Police Station, said on secret information that a group was taking preparation for committing robbery, a team of police conducted the drive at the village early in the morning.
Sensing the presence of police, the robbers opened fire at them prompting a retaliation that triggered a gunfight.
The gunfight left Hanif bullet injured while the other members of the gang managed to flee the scene.
