A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in the city on Wednesday.
The suspect was identified as Shahid Hossain alias Kana Shahid, 45.
The gunfight took place in the capital’s Turag Beribadh area early Wednesday.
RAB ASP Md Kamruzzaman confirmed the matter to the media and said that accused was allegedly suspected for 16 robbery cases, two arms cases and two narcotics cases.
On a tip-off, our force took the position in the Turag Beribadh area that a group of robbers were there. After getting the information, the robbers charged the law enforcers and RAB fired back in
self-defence when a RAB member was also injured.
Afterwards, we found a bullet-ridden body and took himm to the hospital where doctors declared him dead, Kamruzzaman said.
Two pistols, two guns, 21 cartridges, and seven rounds of ammunition were seized from the spot, RAB officials also added.
