A robber was killed in an armed clash with his rivals at Eidgarh area of Sadar upazila here early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rashid, resident at Bhumriaghona Monjurer Shia area under greater Eidgaon union in the upazila. He was accused in seven cases including four abductions and was the key man in the recent abduction of three persons including a former UP member from a microbus.
In-Charge of Eidgaon Police Camp Minhaz Abedin said a number of abduction and robbery incidents had been occurring on the Eidgaon-Baishari road for long. Centring these, rival terrorist groups were engaged in a gunfight, leaving Abdur Rashid dead on the spot.
