A suspected member of a robber gang was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Purba Shakharia in Banaripara upazila early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Dulal, 35, son of Ismail Hossain, a resident of Chandipur village in
Babuganj upazila. Acting on secrete information that a gang of robbers were taking preparation at Purba hakharia to commit robbery, a team of police went there to conduct a drive around 1:45am, said Officer-in-Charge of Banaripara Police Station Ziaul Ahsan.
However, sensing the presence of police, the robbers opened fire towards them, forcing the law enforcers to retaliate. At one stage, one of the bullets hit Dulal, leaving him dead on the spot. A police constable also received injuries during the ‘gunfight’.
