An alleged robber was murdered by his associates over sharing of their looted money in Noorpur area in the district town on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Manir Uddin, son of Muluk, a resident of the area.
Meherpur Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Sheikh Atiar Rahman said two associates of Manir in a motorcycle hurled a crude bomb and fired a shot at him at a market in the area before dusk, leaving him critically injured.
He was whisked off to the district hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 9:00pm.
Locals said the incident of attack on Munir occurred over a brawl centering the distribution of looted money among his gang members.
