Roads of Rajarhat UZ in Kurigram need urgent repair

The roads of Rajarhat upazilas have been in bad shape for a long time now due to heavy rains and potholes have been developed on the roads causing sufferings to the people . .
 The vehicles plying are being hampered as well as sufferings of people specially school, college and madrasa going students and teachers are increasing day by day.
There is no headache of the authority concerned.
Sources said there are 124 kilometer pucca road out of 144- km road under Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) in seven unions of the upazila. Many roads have been damaged due to rain water stagnant on the road.
The damaged roads are Rajarhat-Nazimkhan, Khedabag-Rajarhat-Teesta, Ratigram-Dangrarhat, Dangrarhat-Nazimkhan Bazar, Rajarhat-Gharealdanga bazaar and Rajarhat-Anandabazar.
There is no drainage system beside the roads causing big and small potholes have been developed hampering the all kinds of vehicles movement as well as pedestrians. Rajarhat upazila Engineer GKM Anowarul Alam admitted the fact and told that carpeting in many points have been damaged in the recent rainfall. It is not being repaired now due to lack of budget.
 The matter was informed to higher authority concerned. The renovation activities will be started by tender after getting the allocation of fund, he added.
