Road traffic accidents in Bangladesh amid the Eid holiday rush on the highways have left 11 people dead. The accidents in Bogra, Narayanganj, Faridpur, Feni, Netrokona and Jhenaidah on Thursday also saw at least 20 others injured, police said. Muslims in Bangladesh will celebrate the Eid-ul-Azha on Friday and the three-day holiday began from Thursday. The highways are experiencing a huge rush of vehicles as millions are heading to their hometowns since Wednesday. A head-on collision between two buses in Bogra’s Shibganj left three dead and 10 others injured. Another collision between a bus and a pickup van killed three people including a cattle trader and injured four others in Narayanganj’s Arhaihajar. In Faridpur, two teenagers were killed when the motorcycle they were riding lost control and hit a tree beside the road at Jhiltuli. An auto-rickshaw passenger was killed and four others injured when a truck hit the three-wheeler at Feni’s Dagonbhuiyan. A 12-year-old boy died after being run over by an auto-rickshaw at Netrokona’s Madan Upazila. The teenager was trying to cross the road while running away from an angry bull. In Jhenaidah’s Sadar Upazila, a sexagenarian woman was killed when a three-wheeler collided head-on with a motorcycle. Two others were injured. –bdnews24.com
