Naogaon Correspondent :
The dream road is about to collapse in the water of the bill. The waves of the bill seem to be crashing against the road. One part is breaking.
It is learned that the road was constructed in the middle of Hansaigari Athaijal at the initiative of late Abdul Jalil MP about a decade ago. Although the road is the only communication of the district headquarters with more than a hundred villages of several unions including Hansaigari, Shikarpur, Hansaigari, a 20 km long road built through huge body of water, has now become one of the major tourist destinations in Naogaon district.
Thousands of visitors flock here every day for a distance of about 6 km to see the beautiful road built across the chest of the bill and the water.
Since the construction of the road, no effective measures have been taken to prevent the erosion of the bill. As a result, one side of the road is constantly collapsing on account of the waves.
The places where the blocks were are very old and the soil of the road is crumbling. The street lights on the side of the road have already been damaged. Locals are speculating that the road will not exist next year if the road is not repaired.
LGED Naogaon Executive Engineer Md. Maksudul Alam said, “We have inspected the damaged parts of the road along with local MP Barrister Nizam Uddin Jalil Jan to see the demolition site first hand.” A project proposal for reform has been sent to Dhaka. If the project is approved, it will be possible to start the renovation work in a very short time when the water recedes.
