Road crashes in different parts of Bangladesh amid the rush on highways ahead the Eid have left 13 people killed on Wednesday. Collision between truck and autorickshaw claimed four lives in Sunamganj while three were run over by bus in Brahmanbarhia. Two people died in a road crash in Tangail while another four in Chittagong. Muslims in Bangladesh will celebrate the Eid-ul Azha on Sep 25 (Friday) and the three-day holidays begin from Thursday. The highways are experiencing a huge rush of vehicles as a lot of people are heading to their hometowns on Wednesday, the last working day before the holidays. Sunamganj Four persons have died when a truck collided with auto-rickshaw at Sunamganj on Wednesday. District police chief Harun Ur Rashid said the accident happened around 8am on the Sylhet-Chhatak Highway at Kalaruka area. He said the head-on collision between the truck and the three-wheeler left four people dead on the spot. All of the victims were riding the auto-rickshaw. Brahmanbarhia Three pedestrians died when a bus ran over them on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway at Sarail Upazila. Police said the Sylhet-bound bus lost control killing the pedestrians on the spot before falling into a roadside ditch. The incident left at least 15 passengers of the bus injured. Tangail Two separate road mishaps left two dead and twelve injured in the district, through which the highway connecting northern Bangladesh to the rest of the country passes. A Dhaka-bound bus crashed into a four-wheeler passenger vehicle on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in the Sadar Upazila. Two passengers of the four-wheeler died on the spot while three more injured. Meanwhile, a bus and truck crashed into each other at the Kalihati Upazila on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway. At least 12 passengers of the bus were injured in the incident. Chittagong Three died when a bus lost control near the Dewanhat Bridge. Police said that the bus went off the road while trying to cross another bus and hit other vehicles before running over three pedestrians. Six others were injured in the incident. Meanwhile, in Potenga a trailer-truck ran over a twelve-year –old boy. The incident left another teenager injured, who is being treated at a local hospital.
