Three persons were killed in a road crash at Piling square on the Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid highway under Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Serina Begum, 35, wife of Abul Kalam Azad of Azmatpur village under Shahbajpur union in Shibganj upazila, her son Emon, 10 and Jakera Begum, 39, wife of Mahbub of the same area.
OC (Investigation) of Shibganj thana Chowdhury Ahmed Zobayer said, as an empty truck and a mishuk coming from the opposite directions collided head on at Piling square under Shibganj upazila at around 8-30 am, Serina Begum, one of the passengers of the mishuk died on the spot. Later Jakera Begum and Emon succumbed to injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital at noon, he added.
Police detained the truck and its driver Tofazzal Hossain of Lalpur in Natore district.
