Road accidents kill 14, injure 45

At least 14 people were killed and 45 others received injuries in separate road accidents in several districts, including Bogra, on Saturday.
In Bogra, at least five persons, including a mother and her son, were killed in a road accident on Bogra-Rangpur Highway at Baghopara area under Bogra Sadar upazila in the morning.
Eight persons received injuries in the tragic road crash. They were rushed to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Afroza Akhter, 30, her son Nurul Islam, 8, her uncle Loya Mia, 35, Ismail, 27, and Ahmed Ali, 45.
Quoting the witnesses, Bogra Sadar Police Station’s Sub Inspector Anwar Hossain said that a patrol team of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) asked the truck to stop. But the truck driver became reckless and rammed into a fruit shop at Baghopara, leaving five dead on the spot.
Police arrested the truck driver and recovered the truck.
The bodies were handed over to the relatives, the police official said.
Meanwhile, a minor girl was killed and her mother received serious injuries when a passenger bus hit their rickshaw in the city’s Fulbaria area in the evening.
The victim was identified as Miss Arshi, 3, daughter of Md Uzzal Mia.
Arshi’s mother Nurunnaha Begum was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
On the other hand, an auto-rickshaw driver was killed and 19 others received injuries in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and an auto-rickshaw on the Abdullahpur-Baipal Road near Narsinghpur Bus Stand in Ashulia of Dhaka district in the afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Monir Hossain.
The injured were sent to several local hospitals instantly.  
In Chittagong, a five-year-old minor girl was killed and her grandmother injured when a waste-laden truck of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) hit a rickshaw carrying them at Anandabazar in the port city.
The deceased was identified as Riya Akhtar Jui, daughter of Md Mohiuddin, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Shahinul Islam of Bandar police station.
In Gopalganj, at least two persons were killed and 15 others received injuries when a body-laden pick-up van hit a tree when its driver lost control over the steering at Kangshu in Sadar upazila early in the morning.
The deceased were identified as Rahila Khatun, 53, and Parveen, 54.
In Mymensinh, at least two persons succumbed to their injuries at a local clinic in Muktagacha upazila of Mymensingh district in the morning.
The victim received injuries when a human-haler turned turtel at Begunbari in the upazila on Friday night.
In Brahmanbaria, at least two motorcyclists were killed when a private car rammed into them on Brahmanbaria-Nabinagar Road in the Sukantali area early in the morning.
The victims were identified as Mamun Hossain, 45, and his brother-in-law Enamul haque.
