Road accidents 298 killed in Sept

Two hundred ninety eight people, including 35 women and 45 children, were killed and 810 others sustained injuries in 199 road accidents in September, according to a report of rights group National Committee to Protect Shipping, Roads and Railways.
These fatal accidents took place on roads, highways, national roads and regional roads across the country between September 1 and 30.
The report was prepared based on reports published in 20 national dailies, eight online news portals and news services and 10 regional newspapers, said Ashis Kumar Dey, general secretary of NCPSSR.
The report said that at least 2,376 people were killed and 6,341 others injured in 2,179 road accidents in eight months-January to August-this year.
So, a total of 2,674 lives were lost and 7,151 received injuries in 2,378 road accidents in the last nine months across the country.
The NCPSRR identified seven vital reasons behind the accidents—Reckless driving, employing unskilled driver without license, overloading and overtaking tendency
violating laws, long-time driving without interval, violating traffic rules and regulations, lack of implementation of law to stop plying of unfit vehicles, and risky turning points and dilapidated roads.
