Workers of a readymade garment factory in Chittagong have staged a demonstration demanding the payment of arrears.
Around 300 workers of Leading Fashion Limited blocked Alongkar intersection from 8.15am yesterday, said Industrial Police Inspector Arifur Rahman.
Police, however, rushed to the spot and cleared the road within 15 minutes.
The workers were to be paid their dues yesterday and took to the streets finding the factory gates closed when they arrived in the morning.
Quoting the agitating workers, Rahman said the owners had delayed their payment last month. Mentionable that workers of a RMG factory of CEPZ area in city staged demonstration 2 days ago in front of the factory for demanding their overtime facilities and they also protested against the introduction of three shifts in the factory, sources said.
