Workers of a garments factory in Chittagong staged demonstration and siege road in front of Bangladesh Tea Board office at Baizid thana area in city yesterday demanding payment of salary of last month and Eid festival bonus.
Eye witnesses sources said about 500 workers of Seissors Apparels Ltd enforced road siege program on Solashar-Oxygen road under Baizid thana from 2 pm caused serious traffic congestion in the area. Inspector of Industrial Police Arifur Rahman told that the owner of the RMG factory is supposed to pay salary and bonus on Saturday but serious altercation happened with the general manager of the factory.
At one stage the workers begin staging demonstration demanding the salary and bonus in side the factory premises and later they came out and siege road.
Officer incharge of Baizid thana told that Industrial police and CMP authority is trying to convince the workers and with the assurance of owner, the workers suspended their demonstration, sources said.
