At least 20 people were injured in a clash between police and garment workers in Savar on Tuesday morning. Withnesses and workers said, the workers of Dhaka Sweater Factory were staging protest procession for few days demanding implementation of 10 -point including salary-hike.
Following the protest, the factory owner and workers sat in a meeting on the day, but an armed man named Mashiur, reportedly, on behalf of the factory owner threatened workers in the meeting.
Atone stage the agitated workers took position on roads and police charged baton and tear shells to bring the situation under control, leaving 20 workers injured. Md.Masum Inspector of industrial police confirmed the matter and said “Additional police forces were deployed in the area.”
