RMG workers of Clifton Group of Chittagong staged demonstration and road blockaded factory premises at Baizid thana area in city on Wednesday evening demanding their leave allowances.
The workers seized road for one hour and the situation brought under control following the presence of police forces. Local eye witnesses sources said about one thousand workers staged their demonstrations. Police sources said the workers staged demonstration demanding their leave allowances of 2013 & 2014 before the eidul azha holiday. Sources said the management of the company did not agree to fulfill their demands in a meeting held on Wednesday morning , as such the agitated workers staged demonstration and siege program.
Police sources said the workers siege road infront of Baizid mazar gate , opposite the Clifton factory gate at 6 pm . Asstt. Police super of Industrial Police Ratan Das told that the management of the group unwilling to pay the leave salary for 40 days for two years , and hence workers became agitated. Following the assurances to pay this allowance by next one week, the situation became normal, sources said.
