RMG workers block street in city

Staff Reporter :The workers of the factory of the New Style Apparels took to the street in Badda in the capital city on Saturday in demand of the resumptions of production. The factory workers blocked the street in the morning with slogans to open the factory. The workers said, the authority temporarily closed the factory on August 7 with assurance to open on Saturday (yesterday). But the factory did not open. The workers gathered in front of Lutfun shopping complex and blocked the Badda-Rampura Road. As a result,the area was plagued with huge gridlock. The passengers suffered for hours. The police talked with the workers and convinced them that they would contact with the garment company about their demand. Then the workers withdrew their blockade. Shahinur Alam, the Sub-Inspector and Duty Officer of Badda police station confirmed the development. He said, the garment workers gathered in the street demanding opening of their factory. Police convinced them to end to the siege saying that their demand would be met.
