A readymade garment (RMG) factory was declared closed for indefinite period amid the workers’ protest at Jamgara of Ashulia under Savar upazila in Dhaka district on Wednesday morning, police said.
Mustafizur Rahman, Director of Industrial Police, Ashulia Division confirmed the news and said that Designer Jeans Factory’s Line Chief Jahangir and Operator Jisad were sacked from service by the authority on Tuesday. Following the incident, workers refrained themselves from duty since morning and demanded reinstatement, removal of six officers including its general manager (GM).
The police official said that the workers got agitated seeing the closing notice on Wednesday.
Industrial police rushed to thespot and brought the situation under control, he said.
Additional police forces had been deployed in the factory area to avoid any unpleasant situation, he added.
