An attendant of Bangladesh Railway died after he fell off from a running train in the city’s Cantonment area on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Liakat, 45, a staff of Mymensigh-bound Teesta Express train, said Yasin Faruque, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kamalapur Government Railway Police (GRP) Station.
“Liakat suddenly fell off from a compartment of the running train around 8:30am when he was standing at the open gate of the compartment,” he said.
The critically injured Liakat was first taken to Kurmitola General Hospital and later he was shifted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) as his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injuries at the DMCH around 11:30pm, the OC said.
The body has been kept at DMCH morgue for an autopsy, he said.
