Court Correspondent :The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Wednesday placed BNP Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on a fresh remand for five days in the case filed on the charge of arson attack in Jatrabari area of the capital on January 23.Magistrate Md Rezaul Karim of Dhaka CMM Court passed the order after hearing on a 10-day remand prayer of Zahidul Islam, a Sub-Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Police and Investigation Officer (IO) of the case. The IO produced the BNP leader in the court and the court rejected the bail petition and the plea of Rizvi for rejection of the remand prayer.BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been made accused in the case as mastermind of the incident while Rizvi as instigator. The bombs caused injuries to other 31 people and one of them later succumbed to injuries. Suspected blockaders allegedly threw two petrol bombs inside a bus at Jatrabari and one of them exploded on January 23. Earlier on February 1, another court of Dhaka placed Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on a three-day remand in another case filed with Badda Police Station for torching a bus in Badda area of the city.
