The High Court on Monday granted interim bail to BNP joint secretaries general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Mizanur Rahman Minu and a Jamaat leader in separate case.
Two HC benches granted Rizvi bail for six months in four cases filed in connection with violence during hartal and blockade.
The HC benches-one comprising of Justice Borhanuddin and Justice KM Kamrul Kader and the other of Naima Haider and Zafar Ahmed- passed the orders following separate bail petitions.
Following the HC bail, there is no legal bar to the release of Rizvi as he is not accused in any other case,
said his lawyers. On November 30 last year, plainclothes police stormed into the BNP central office at Nayapaltan and picked up Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Later, he was shown arrested in the four cases-two filed with Motijheel police station and one each with Paltan and Ramna on charges of vandalising and torching vehicles and preventing cops from discharging their duties.
