The High Court Division of the Supreme Court on Wednesday granted bail to BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed for six months in five separate cases.
A HC bench comprising Justice Md Habibul Gani and Justice Md Akram Hossain Chowdhury granted the bail after hearing five petitions filed by Rizvi seeking bail in the cases.
The cases were filed with Ramna, Motijheel, Khilgaon and Pallabi police stations in 2013 and 2015
during the anti-government movement enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Of the cases, two were filed on charges of killing and three over vandalism and arson attacks.
He was sent to jail after he surrendered to a lower court on August 18.
