The High Court on Sunday granted interim bail to BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in two cases filed for torching vehicles.
An HC bench comprising Justice Mohammad Rezaul Haque and Justice Mohammad Khasruzzaman passed the order.
The court also issued a rule asking the government to explain why the BNP leader should not be given permanent bail in the two cases.
Advocate Joynul Abedin stood Rizvi who is now in jail.
Police filed the two cases against the BNP leader with Mohammadpur Police
Station on January 23 and 27 respectively on charge of torching vehicles.
Contacted, Joynul said Rizvi will have to remain in jail as he was shown arrested in four more cases.
