Rival workers clash in Barapukuria Coal Mine, 4 injured

Two group workers clashed in Baropukuria Coal Mine Company Ltd (BCMCL) under Dinajpur district on Saturday .
 Atleast four workers were injured as supporters of two group factions clashed over employment of fresh workers, sources said.
The injured workers were identified as Md. Wazed Ali, 38, President , BCMCL Workers Union, Saidur Rahman, 40, a member, Md. Rabiul Islam, 34, former president of BCMCL Workers Union and Rakibuzzaman, 33, a member of the union.
Sources said, BCMCL authorities on June 25 published a circular in various newspapers on recruitment of workers to fill vacant posts.
A faction of miners, led by Md. Rabiul Islam, former president of BCMCL Miners Union, called a meeting over the fresh recruitment issue inside the mine complex at around 10.30am yesterday.
 At around 12.30pm another faction, led by Md. Wazed Ali, incumbent president of the union along with his supporters, went there and strongly protested the meeting. At one stage, the miners of both factions locked into clashes in the complex, which left 4 miners injured.
On information, police of Parbatipur Upazila rushed the spot and brought the situation under control. The injured were rushed to Parbatipur upazila Health Complex.
