A rival group has cut about 3000 banana plants of 11 farmers at Dudsar village under Shailkupa upazila of Jhenidah on Monday night.
The owners of the affected plots are: Mofij Uddin, Bipul Hossain, Sayed Ali, Joynal Hossain, Rezaul Islam, Nazrul Islam, Hossain Ali, Mozibur Rahman, Siddique Ali, Rabbani Mondol, Amirul Islam and Sabed Ali .
While talking to a number of farmers they alleged that their rival group led by Milton Joardar and Tarun Joardar has felled all the banana plants of 5 bighas of 11 farmers of the village.
Locals said, a long standing conflict had been going for long between AL backed Shailkupa upazila chairman Nayeb Ali Joardar and AL lawmaker backed Milton and Tarun Joardar. As a sequel of the feud the rival group has damaged the plants causing huge loss of the farmers.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shafikul Islam, Shailkupa upazila UNO Mohammad Ali prince and OC Sagir Mia visited the spot.
DC directed the OC to file a case with the police station and nab the accused whether they are AL activists and BNP activists.
