A lot depends on the kind of make-up that you purchase. Before you begin to shop for such products, make sure that you follow some of these rules –
· Consider your skin type and complexion: When you go out shopping for a particular product, always check your skin type and your skin tone before purchasing one. You can try out the product at the back of your palm to see whether it merges into your skin.
· Stick to one particular brand: Often a brand which you have been using for a period of time will suit you more than the ones that you haven’t used before. This is because your skin is already accustomed to one particular brand and the beauty ingredients that they use.
· Mineral make-up for warmer times: During the hotter months, it is best recommended to use mineral make-up. This sits well on your skin and doesn’t clog your pores unlike liquid make-up.
· Do not use foundation during the day time: While you would like to be a few shades lighter, make sure that you do not use a foundation during the day, else your pores may clog. Beautician Nidhi Mirchandani says, “Foundations are heavy on your skin and can make your face age much faster than it would normally do. Thus, consider using a compact powder instead of a foundation to make your face look younger.”
· Toner is a must: The application of a toner right before you put make-up is going to make your face look brighter and will prevent any allergies. Always consider using a toner which is water-based and contains ingredients like aloe vera or cucumber. You can also spritz the toner after you have taken off the make-up.
· Don’t apply products which are too old: Make-up professional Nanda Ghai says, “Do not apply products on your skin which are more than six months old. For example, change your compact powder or foundation every three months to avoid your skin from getting damaged. If you have been applying a product for over a year, your chances of developing acne or rashes are high.”
· Always run a trial test before you start applying a product on your skin: It is always best to check for any kind of rashes by first applying the product at the back of your palm or on your wrist so that you do not get any allergies.
