Noor Hossain Patwari, upazila chairman and general secretary of ruling Awami League of Haimchar Upazila of Chandpur district rode on a human bridge formed what he termed ‘Padma Bridge’ during a sport event of a high school sparking widespread criticism among people.
The incident took place at Nilkamal Osmania High School on Monday. As the picture and video of the event uploaded to the Facebook, people from different corners of the country strongly protested Noor Hossain Patwari’s ride on students back.
The facebook users also demanded punishment to the upazila chairman Noor Hossain and the school authority.
Talking to local journalists, Noor Hossain termed the event as a symbolic presentation of Padma Bridge arranged by the school authority.
“I didn’t have any wish to ride on the students’ back. But I was compelled to do so due to students’ request,” he said.
