A rickshaw-puller received injuries by shotgun fire of a police constable in the city’s Paltan intersection on Tuesday afternoon.
The inured man has been identified as Md Hanif, 35, from Muradnagar in Comilla.
The rickshaw-puller was wounded in the chest, hands and back, said Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Police Outpost In-charge Bacchu miah.
“Initially we have found that bullets exited the shotgun of an on-duty constable by mistake, leaving the rickshaw-puller injured,” said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Motijheel Division Deputy Commissioner Anwar Hossain.
He said that the matter was being investigated and action would be taken against the police officer if he was found guilty of any negligence.
