A rickshaw puller allegedly sexually abused four children in different times, luring them with candy, in Dhaka’s Khilgaon area.
Police arrested the accused, Sazal Mollah (55) “a rickshaw puller” in a raid on Wednesday night, Faruqul Alam, officer-in-charge of Khilgaon Police Station confirmed the matter on Thursday
The victims, aged between six and nine, were sent to one-stop crisis centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical tests.
Faruqul Alam said victims’ families filed a case in this regard.
Quoting victims’ families, police said, four children were staying with their families in a tinshed house in Uttar Goran area under Khilgaon police station. Rickshaw puller Sajal Mollah lives next to their house.
Since his wife had not been at home for several days, Sazal used to lure the children with candy to his home and sexually abused them. He had been doing this for several days.
The families came to know about it on Wednesday and filed a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
Police said during the preliminary interrogation, the rickshaw puller confessed to torturing the children.
OCC coordinator said. Bilkis Begum said forensics of four children was completed on Thursday afternoon. Initially some signs of sexual abuse were found. Details can be revealed after receiving the forensic report.
