Victory Day was celebrated in Rangpur on the 50th day of victory by remembering the best children of the nation with deep pain and absolute respect. Following the social distance and hygiene rules to prevent the spread of the corona virus, the heroic children laid wreaths. The memorials of the liberation war including the memorial and the Shaheed Minar are full of flowers of respect and love of innumerable people. Victory Day got off to a good start on Wednesday (December 16) with the sunrise at the Rangpur Police Lines ground with 31 rounds of artillery fire. The national flag has been flying in government, private, autonomous institutions and privately owned buildings since the foggy morning.
The national flag was hoisted at Rangpur Circuit House in the morning in the presence of police administration officials including divisional and district administrations. Later, at 9:30 am, a wreath was laid at the modern corner of the city and a self-armed salute was given in honor of the martyrs.
Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan, Rangpur Range DIG Devdas Bhattacharya, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Alim Mahmud, Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Asib Ahsan, Rangpur District Superintendent of Police Biplob Kumar Sarkar and others laid wreaths.
Officials of the divisional, district and police administrations also laid wreaths and saluted the freedom fighters of the martyred freedom fighters at Surve Udyan on the mural of Bangabandhu at the district school corner.
Meanwhile, in the morning, all the councilors, officials and employees of Rangpur City Corporation (ROSIC) paid their respects with wreaths at the Rangpur Central Martyr, Bangabandhu’s Mural, Arjan and Shaheed Memorial at Survi Udyan under the leadership of Rangpur City Corporation (ROSIC) Mayor Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa.
A special prayer and Doa mahfil were organized in the city corporation building at noon in memory of the martyrs.
