Deputy Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad M Fazle Rabbi Mian on Monday urged the people of affluent society to extend their helping hands for the welfare of people with disabilities, including the autistic ones.
“The rich people should come forward to help people with disabilities …we all have social obligations towards them …The government is trying its best to bring them into the mainstream of the society,” he said.
He was presiding over a meeting of Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled Bangladesh (SWID) Advisory committee members at SWID office at Eskaton Garden, said a press release.
He said the people with disabilities were part of society and it is the responsibility of all to extend their cooperation and show compassion to them.
SWID, Bangladesh advisory committee members Kazi Rozy, Abul Kalam Mohammad Ahsanul Huk Duke Chowdhury were present, among others.
