A gang of miscreants looted 763 sachets of rice from a godown at Dakbangla Bazar, about 14 kilometre east from the district head quarters in the early morning of Wednesday.
During the looting, the miscreant tied up the night guard with rope, said the owner of the godown Abul Kashem.
Abul Kashem, owner of Satata Khadya Bhander said, a gang of miscreants numbering 20 to 25 arrived with a truck near his food store in the early hours of the day. They tied up the guard Shahin Hossain with rope in the godown. Then they looted 763 sachets of rice containing 3,000 kilograms of rice. The approximate price of the stolen rice might be Taka 12 lakh, he said.
Jhenaidah Sadar police station police station officer in charge Harendra Nath Sarker when contacted said, he was informed about looting of the rice from a food store at Dakbangla Bazer. Necessary steps will be taken after an investigation. The case in this regard was under process, OC said.
