Anisul Islam Noor :The price of kitchen items remained almost unchanged at the weekend on Friday.A sack of 50 kg Minicate was selling at Tk1950 on Friday instead of Tk 1700, BR-29 at 1600 instead of Tk1450, BR-28 at Tk 1700 from Tk 1720. Mini sack (20 kg) of Nazirshail was selling at Tk 1100 only.The coarse rice was selling in different city markets at Tk 35 to 37 per kg, Pyjam at Tk 40 to 42 kg, Nazirshail brand of rice at Tk 48 to 54 per kg, Minicate at Tk 48-52 per kg, Kattari bhog at Tk 75 which was Tk 60 per kg seven days ago, Pillau rice (Badsha bhog) at Tk 90 to 120 per kg and Kalijira at Tk 115 to 130 per kg only. Coarse flour was selling at Tk40 per kg and a 2-kg packet at Tk 75. The green chili was selling at Tk100 to 120 per kg. Bean was selling at Tk120 per kg, brinjal at Tk 60 to 65 kg, tomato at Tk 100 to 120 per kg, carrot at Tk 60 to 70 per kg, potato at Tk 25 to 30 per kg, bitter gourd at Tk 50 to Tk 60 per kg, balsam apple at Tk 45 kg, okra at Tk 60 to 70 kg, cucurbitaceous at Tk 55 to 60 per kg, cucumber at Tk 30 to 35 kg, spone gourd at Tk 50 to 60 per kg, arum at 40 to 45 kg, radish at Tk 25 to 30 per kg, papaya at Tk 30 kg, french at Tk 80 to 85 per kg, snake gourd at Tk 50 to 60 kg, pumpkin (medium size) at Tk 50 to 60 per piece, cauliflower at Tk 35 to 45 piece, bottle gourd at Tk 55 to 65 piece, ash gourd at Tk 30 to 40 piece, coriander leaves at Tk 400 kg. Capsicum (red) at Tk 500 per kg and capsicum (green) at Tk 350 to 400 per kg. The local onion was selling at Tk 78 to 80 per kg, while the imported onion at Tk 77 to 78 kg. Imported garlic was selling at Tk 110 to 120 kg only, and local garlic at Tk 80 kg. Imported ginger was selling at Tk 170 to 180 per kg. The locally produced ginger was selling at Tk 70 to 90 kg.Of the fishes, Puti was selling at Tk 250 per kg, live puti at Tk 400 kg, Kholisa at Tk 300 a kg, Chapila at Tk 400 a kg, cultivated koi at Tk 200 to 300 a kg, Fali Chanda (Rupchada) at Tk 1200 a kg, Chanda small at Tk 250 a kg, walking fish (Shoal) at Tk 350 a kg, Eel at Tk 450 a kg, Meni at Tk 400 a kg, sheat (boal) at Tk 600 to 800 a kg, Ek-thota (Kaitta fish) at Tk 550 a kg, Coral Fish at 550 a kg, river Pangas at Tk 700 a kg, cultivated Pangas at Tk 170 a kg, Rajputi at Tk 450 a kg, Tilapia at Tk 180 a kg, Ruhit at Tk 350 a kg, medium size carp (katol) at Tk 250-300 a kg, big size katol at Tk 400 a kg, local variety of cat fish (Shing) at Tk 500-900 a kg, barbel at Tk 800 a kg, lobster at Tk 800-1000 a kg, and shrimp at Tk 350-400 a kg. The egg (farm) was selling at Tk 30 per hali (4 pieces), egg (local) at Tk 50 and egg (duck) at Tk 45 to Tk 48. Pigeon per pair was selling at Tk180 to Tk 250 and four koil birds were selling at Tk 200 based on size.The price of the fine variety of lentil was selling at Tk 130 per kg while the imported item (coarse variety) was selling at Tk 115 per kg over the week.Five liters of Rupchanda brand canned soybean oil was selling at Tk 490 to Tk 505, loose super palm oil at 75 per liter, sugar price by Tk three per kg and it was selling at Tk 48 to 50 per kg and molasses at Tk 70 to 120 and flattened rice at Tk 70 to 90.Onion, vegetables and green chili have been selling at higher price since August this year, in this circumstances increasing rice price will create additional burden on middle and fixed income group of people, said MM Akash, Professor Economics of Dhaka University.
