Rice price unchanged despite new harvesting

The price of rice remained unchanged in the city markets at the weekend on Friday despite plenty Aman harvesting. Vegetables price, however, had further gone down due to favourable weather.
The government has set target to grow 129.16 lakh tonnes of Aman rice this year which has already been achieved even though flash flood hit North Bengal and part of Mymensingh and Jamalpur districts, said Rafiqul Hasan, Deputy Director (Monitoring) of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).
On Friday, the coarse rice was selling at 35 to 36 per kg, Pyjam at Tk 36 to Tk 37, Nazishail brand at Tk 53 to 56, Minicate at Tk 52-54, Pollau rice (Badsha bhog) at Tk80 to Tk100 and Kalijira at Tk100 to Tk115 only.
Of the vegetables, bean was selling at Tk 30 per kg, brinjal at Tk 30 to Tk35, tomato at Tk 65, tomato green at Tk 30, bitter gourd at Tk 25 to Tk 30, cucumber at Tk 35 to 40, okra at Tk 30 to 35, papaya at Tk 15, potato (new) at Tk 30 and old at Tk 26, carrot at Tk 30, french at Tk 40, radish at Tk 15, parbal at Tk 20 to 25, teasel gourd Tk 30 to 35, snake gourd at Tk 30 to 35, pumpkin (medium size) Tk 35 to 50 per piece, cauliflower Tk 15 to 20, cabbage Tk 15 to 25, bottle gourd Tk 40 to 50, ash gourd Tk20 to 25, coriander leaves at Tk 150 per kg, green chilli at Tk 40 to 50, capsicum (red) at Tk 450 kg and capsicum (green) at Tk250 to 300 per kg. Of fish prices, Puti was selling at Tk 250 per kg at Karwan Bazar, Kholisa at Tk 300, Chapila at Tk 400, local Koi at Tk 600, Fali Chanda (Rupchada) at Tk 1200, Chanda small at Tk 250, Cheh at Tk 450, Walking Fish at Tk 350, Eel at Tk 450, Meni at Tk 400, sheat at Tk 600 to 800 per kg, Ek-thota (Kaitta fish) at Tk 550, Feat Fish at 550, Pangas (river) at Tk 700, cultivated Pangas at Tk 170, Rajputi at Tk 450, Tilapia at Tk 180, Ruhi fish was selling at Tk 350 per kg, medium sized Carp at Tk 250-300 a kg, big-size katol at Tk 400 per kg, cultivated climbing fish at Tk 250 per kg, local variety of catfish (Shing) at Tk 500-900, Barbel at Tk 800 per kg, big size shrimp at Tk 800-1000 per kg and small shrimp at Tk 350-400 per kg.
A medium size of local cock was selling at Tk 400 to 550 per piece and hen at Tk 300 to 340. The boiler chickens’ price stands at Tk 175 per kg. Beef meat was selling at Tk 320 per kg while red meat at Tk 500. The egg (chicken) was selling at Tk 34 per hali (4 pieces) and egg (duck) at Tk38 to Tk 40.
Five litres of Rupchanda brand canned soybean oil was selling at Tk 510 and Teer brand at Tk 490 from Tk 560 and at Tk 555 respectively. New arrival varieties of onion was selling at Tk 30 per kg, old was selling at Tk 42 to Tk44 and imported onion was selling at Tk 35. Imported garlic was selling at Tk 85 per kg and local one at Tk 90.
Imported ginger was selling at Tk 160 to 180, local produce at Tk 120 to Tk140 only, and lentil at Tk 115.
