UNB, Jamalpur :
Police arrested a dealer and seized 97 rice sacks of a government social safety net scheme from Hajipur Bazar in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The arrestee was identified as Ashraf Faruki Rukon, a dealer of a newly launched social safety net scheme which distributes rice at TK 10 per kg among the poor, in word no. 1,2,3 of Sadar upazila.
Rasel Sabrin, additional superintendent of Jamalpur police, said on secret information a team of police and local administration conducted a drive in the area while Rukon was making deal to sell on the black market 4.850 tonnes rice of the 22 tonnes allotted to his area under the government scheme.
