Staff Reporter :
Former Finance Minister and Awami League (AL) leader Shah AMS Kibria’s son Dr. Reza Kibria submitted his nomination form to Dr Kamal Hossain, the top leader of Jatiya Oikyafront and President of Gano Forum.
On Sunday he met Dr Kamal Hossain in his Motijheel Chamber.
Dr Reza is going to contest the coming Parliamentary election under the banner of Jatiya Oikyafront as the member of Gano Forum. He will contest from the Habiganj-1 Constituency (Nabigonj, Bahubal). After Dr Reza submitted his nomination paper, he said, the leadership of Dr Kamal Hossain can translate the dream of Bangabandhu into reality.
He said, Dr Kamal will guide the young generation on the right track. Responding to a query as to why he left Awami League, Dr Reza said, he does not agree with the policies taken by the AL government for
governing the country for the last 10 years. I also believe like Shah AMS Kibria that the national interest is more sensible than party interest. My father sacrificed his all efforts to do something for the people, if I win I shall follow my father. The current political ideology of the ruling party does not match with ideas of him, Reza said.
Reza alleged that the AL has not taken any initiative to carry out a proper investigation into the murder of his father. He further states that the killer does not belong to any party. A killer’s identity is that he is a killer.
Five people, including Kibria, were killed and 70 others injured in a grenade attack on a public rally of local Awami League at Baidder Bazar in Sylhet sadar upazila on January 27, 2005.
