UNB, Shariatpur :
Terming Section 32 of the proposed Digital Security Act more dangerous and unsecure for journalists than Section 57 of the ICT Act, Bangladesh Mufassil Sangbadik Forum (BMSF) on Sunday demanded its immediate revocation.
BMSF, a platform of local correspondents, also
announced to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister after holding rallies and human chains across the country on February 11 if their demand is not met by this week, threatening to launch a tough movement later.
The demand came from a human chain followed by a rally arranged by the local chapter of BMSF at the local Shaheed Minar protesting the ‘harassment’ of several of the country’s senior journalists filing cases against them, attack on BMSF’s Lalmonirhat unit organising secretary and cancellation of Section 32 of the Digital Security Act. BMSF president Shahidul Islam Pilot spoke at the rally as the chief guest with its Shariatpur unit convener Abdul Wadud Miah. Speakers lamented that under the Section 32, police can arrest anyone without filing any case.
