Review applications for SSC results break all records

Over 4.14 lakh students applied for reexamination

The application for reexamination of Secondary School Certificate examination’s results has broken all the previous records as a total of 4,14,516 students applied for the review of their results.
The number of review application was 266,340 last year, officials of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka said.
The officials said, the percentage of this year’s SSC examination results decreased because the students did not pass in mathematics and English.
Most of the students who applied for reexamination of their results got 69 or 79. Some of them also got 32 in English or mathematics. That is why they are trying to get the more one number.
The Dhaka Education Board received a total of 141,400 applications, Cumilla Board 36,784, Barishal Board 22,152, Chattogram Board 53,530, Sylhet Board 20,457, Jeshore Board 38,053, Rajshahi Board 40,968, Dinajpur Board 34,853 and Madrasa Board 21,756. Technical Board also received a number of application for reviewing the results.
Sohrab Hossain, a student of Dhaka Residential Model School and College, who failed in the SSC examination as he got 32 in Mathematics. On the other hand, he got GPA-5 in all other subjects.
Sohrab applied for review of his result. “I am confident that I cannot fail in Mathematics. I will definitely get at least pass marks if my result sheet cheeks properly,” he said.
Tamanna Islam, a guardian, told The New Nation yesterday that her daughter, who sat in the SSC examination from Holy cross Girls School and College, got 78 number in Mathematics. “My daughter applied for review of her result sheet. If she gets two more numbers only she will be considered as GPA-5 holder,” she said.
Chairman of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka told this correspondent that the overall pass rate decreased this year compared to the last year. But the number of SSC review applicants increased this year and reviewing applications also increased.
 “Actually, the Education Ministry gives scope to the students to know how many marks they got. A good number of students who got 59, 69 and 79 marks applied to get more one number for increasing their total GPA,” the chairman said.
This year, a total of 15,74,104 students out of 20,26,574 came out successful in the SSC and its equivalent examinations.
