This is the first time since independence that Pakshi Divisional Railway has set a record in transporting goods from India. In the fiscal year 2020-21 (July-June) the revenue of the Pakshi section of the Western Railway has earned Tk 183 cr 41 lakh 28 thousand. Various commodities including stone, wheat, rice, maize, cement and animal feed raw materials are imported from India by train. In the current financial year, the highest cargo rake has come to the country from India. Railway officials think that this has strengthened the friendship between Bangladesh and India.
Sajedul Islam Babu, Assistant Transport Officer, Divisional Railway, Pakshi, Ishwardi, said that more attention has been paid to freight trains to increase revenue. In the financial year 2019-20 (July-June) the income was 102 crore 46 lakh 96 thousand 816 crore taka.
In one year interval (July-June) the revenue income has increased to 80 crore 94 lakh 31 thousand 407 taka. In the current financial year, 1,613 freight train coaches have arrived from India. The revenue from various intercity passenger trains in Pakshi division has been Tk 157.2550 cr. The revenue income of the freight train is 26 crore 15 lakh 77 thousand 485 taka more than that of the passenger train.
Pakshi Divisional Transport Officer (DTO) Anwar Hossain said the highest rake came from India after 50 years of independence. Besides, the revenue of Pakshi Divisional Railway has increased a lot this year as compared to last financial year.
Pakshi Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Shahidul Islam said goods could be brought to the country by train from India in less time, at lower cost. The revenue of the railways has increased due to the arrival of goods in the train. The highest freight wreck in the current financial year has come to the country after the freight rail link between the two countries. Created the first record since independence. This railway official thinks that the friendship with Bangladesh and India has been strengthened.
