Freedom fighters and their successors went out on demonstration in Barisal and submitted a memorandum to the prime minister asking her to retain quotas for freedom fighters and their successors in public service.
The Barisal District and city units of Muktijoddha Sangsad and Muktijoddha Santan Command organised the demonstration in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall yesterday.
District commander of Muktijoddha Sangsad Sheikh Kutubuddin Ahmed presided over the demonstration.
Among others freedom fighters Enayet Hossain Chowdhury, Mokhlesur Rahman, Abdur Rab, Syed Anisur Rahman, Ansar Ali Howladar, Pardip Kumar Ghosh and convener of Muktijoddha Santan Command Hasan Mahmud, addressed the programme.
Speakers at programme said a certain quarter became audacious to curtail privileges for freedom fighters when the country is preparing for celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the war of independence.
They said that vested quarter is busy in tarnishing the image of freedom fighters in the name of movement against quotas.
