UNB, Dhaka :
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) on Thursday said the price of unpacked edible oil must not exceed Tk 102 per litre at the retail level, in accordance with the price adjustments made by the refiners at the beginning of December.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the apex chamber of the country called upon all the refiners, dealers and retailers of edible oil to price their product in tandem with the international market.
Refiners had already been asked by the Commerce Ministry, as well as FBCCI, to adjust their prices – for both bottled and unpacked edible
oil – to reflect the price movements in the international market from December 2.
The FBCCI statement notes that refiners have already started selling edible oil in line with the request, and urged the dealers and retailers to streamline their prices as well.
Refiners are currently selling the edible oil at Tk 94 per litre and the dealers and the retailers will not sell it for more than TK 98 and Tk 102 respectively, the statement added.
