The Education Ministry today will publish the first merit list of successful students for admission into the higher secondary courses, Education Ministry sources said.
The publication of results had been delayed thrice by this time, latest on Saturday. The result was first supposed to be announced on last Thursday, but the ministry could not do it. The ministry failed on Friday also.
Many aspirants visited website www.xiclassadmission.gov.bd but in vain. They have castigated the activities of the ministry on social media. They also doubt the ministry’s commitment of publishing result on Sunday.
Dhaka Education Board college Inspector Ashfaqus Salehin told The New Nation that the results would be available on Sunday morning. He also refuted the claim in several news reports that the website was hacked, leading to the delay.
The government said that Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) was providing technical help to process the results. Board officials said that the problem was with BUET.
Ashfaqus Salehin said that BUET’s Computer Science Department Teacher Dr M Kaykobad had been called to resolve the problem. “He said that the programme was not running, however, it was not a big problem.
The problem would be solved by Saturday night and the results would be published by Sunday morning,” the board official said. He added that the admission time would be extended by a day, as the results were being delayed. Dr Kaykobad, however, could not speak as he was ‘busy’.
For the last few years, college admissions depended on the results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.
Dhaka Board, in a statement said students in the first merit list would be able to get admission into colleges by June 30 without any late fee.
A second merit list will be published on July 2, based on the seats remaining in colleges after the first lot of admissions.
