Dhaka Dynamites posted a resounding 105-run victory over Khulna Titans in their match of the UCB 6th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Tuesday.
Put into bat first, Dhaka Dynamites piled up a mammoth total of 192 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then shot out Khulna Titans for 87 off 13 overs.
Dhaka Dynamites made a good start as openers Hazratullah Zazai and Sunil Narine put on together 67 runs in the opening stand before Sunil Narin (19) was caught at the mid-on by Ali Khan off D Wiese.
Then Zazai and Rony Talukdar added together 43 runs for the second wicket partnership before Talukdar was caught at the long-on by Ariful Haque off Mahmudullah Riyad when Dhaka’s total was 110 for the loss of two wickets.
Zazai hit a stormy 57. His 36-ball windy innings saw five sixes and three fours.
After Talukdar’s departure, Zazai was caught at the mid-wicket by Ariful Haque off PR Stirling when Dhaka’s score was 113 for the loss of two wickets.
Talukdar notched up a quick-fire 28. His 18-ball innings was ornamented with three fours and two sixes.
Shakib Al Hasan could stay at the crease for a short period as he (0) was caught at the point by Shoriful Islam off Stirling when Dhaka’s total was 113 for the loss of four wickets.
After Shakib’s dismissal, Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell built another notable partnership. They put up together 55 runs in the five-wicket stand before Pollard was caught at the long-off by Mahmudullah Riyad off Ali Khan when the team’s score was 168 for the loss of five wickets.
Pollard hit a fine 27 from 16 balls including two sixes and two fours.
Then Andre Russell was caught & bowled by Wiese when Dhaka’s total was 171 for the loss of six wickets.
Russell made 25 from 22 balls featuring three sixes.
Shuvagata Hom remained unbeaten with 11 while Nurul Hasan remained unbeaten with nine.
Stirling and Wiese Khulna Titans bagged of a couple of wickets each for two and 24 runs respectively.
Mmahmudullah and Ali Khan took one wicket a piece.
Later, opener Junaid Siddique of Khulna Titans fought back against the superb bowling attack of Dhaka Dynamites. Junaid hit a plucky 31. His 16-ball innings was decorated with three sixes and one four.
Shakib Al Hasan captured three wickets at the cost of 18 runs, while Sunil Narine bagged a pair of wickets instead of 20 runs.
Shuvagata Hom and Mohor Sheikh took one wicket each for four and 13 runs respectively.
Hazratullah Zazai of Dhaka Dynamites was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding batting performance.
