Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is also President of Awami League, has directed her party leaders and activists to remain active on the street in the wake of non-stop blockade enforced by the BNP across the country.
She also asked the party’s rank and file to take hard stance against the BNP and resist their atrocities with strong hands, sources said.
The above directives of PM came on Thursday evening when senior leaders of the ruling party went to meet her at Gano Bhaban in a bid to get specific guideline about how to tackle the ongoing political situation.
“Be active on the street. We will not spare the BNP anymore. The government will take stern action against the trouble makers,” said the PM. Hasina also discussed current political situation with the party leaders where Joint General Secretaries of AL Mahabubul Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, central leaders Dr Abdur Razzak, Abu Syed Al Mahmud Swapon, Ahmed Hossain, SM Kamal Hossain, among others, were present. Party sources said the PM especially wanted to know the Monday’s occurrence at National Press Club.
The AL leaders informed the Premier that some pro-BNP journalists had given shelter to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a bid to get support of media to strengthen their [BNP’s] ongoing movement.
However, the Detective Branch of police picked up him as he came out of the Jatiya Press Club on Tuesday around 24 hours after he took shelter there amid protest by pro-Awami League journalists.
In this backdrop, the PM asked the party leaders to remain alert while conspiracy has been going on against the government. “Remain alert as BNP could not do any harm. They are hatching conspiracy to topple the government at any cost,” she cautioned.
