The students, guardians and locals of Shyampur Bohumukhi High School and College on Thursday formed a human chain demanding resignation of president of managing committee for allegedly swindling money from the College fund.
About four hundred students, guardians and
residents took part in the three-hour long human chain started from 10am in front of the main gate of the College.
They alleged that Rafiqul Islam, new chairman of the College Managing committee, was also president of the committee for long and swindled a good amount of money in the name of development work and other purposes. He was also compelled to resign from the post following the protest of the students and guardians that time, they said.
Dhaka Education Board made Rafiqul Islam as president again recently.
General Secretary of the Panchayat Committee of the college area Golam Mostafa alleged Rafiqul Islam is a “corrupt person”. He looted thousands of taka from the College. Nobody wants to see him as president of the College.
Member of the Union Parishad Sultana Ahmed Lipi said there is no law to form managing committee in any school. But the Dhaka Board formed it violating law. And the Board made a corrupt person the president who was ousted from his post in the past.
College Inspector of the Dhaka Board Asfakus Salehin said, the Board formed the committee following the court’s order. A case is going on in this regard. The Board has a plan to form a governing body for the college instead of the managing committee once the case is disposed of, he added.
