BSS, Dhaka :
The country’s foreign exchange reserve on Thursday crossed $25 billion mark for the first time, with attaining a phenomenal rise in the past one year.
“The reserve stood at $25.02 billion on Thursday, which was 17.0 percent higher than $21.27 billion a year ago,” AFM Asaduzzaman, general manager at the governor secretariat of the central bank, told BSS.
He said the reserve is well enough to meet the country’s seven months import bill.
The previous highest reserve position was $24.09 billion on April 15, this year.
He attributed the rise in the reserves to the growth in exports and remittance inflow.
