The construction firm has allegedly stopped the repairing work of Mymensingh-Toke Road for 3 months demanding extra allocation .
Getting work permit 5 months back , the construction firm started repairing work and continued for 20 days and withdrew TK 2. 30 cr bill.
Now the road has become unfit for movement before the last rainy season. About 12 lakh people of Mymensingh and Kishoregonj district are suffering for dilapidated condition of road .
It is learnt that Mymensingh Roads and Highway Department invited tender to repair Mymensingh- Toke Road under District Roads and Highway Development Project on October 1, last year and work order was issued to MS Shamim Enterprise Ltd.
The scheduled work was repairing of some 72 -km long Mymensingh -Toke Road and Shankhchura Dakhmin Harina link road by January 14, 2016. The duration of the work of the road was one year at a cost of Tk 6. 44 cr . MS Shamim Enterprise took the contact to finish the work giving extra rate 45 lakh . According to work order Shamim Enterprise started repairing work after 5 months on June 10 , 2016 hurriedly .
The contractor started working in Lamkain area of Gafargaon Upazila and Balipara Bazar under Trishal Upazila . Before finishing the work, he withdrew Tk 2 crore 30 lakh bill and later the firm stopped the repaired work demanding Tk 1 crore as extra allocation.
About 12 lakh people of Trishal, Ishwargonj, Nandail, Gafargaon, of Mymensingh district and Hossainpur, Pakundia, upazila of Kishoregonj district have to use this road . Some 3- km main parts of Gafargaon Pourashava, Tetulia, Dugasia, Taratia, Golakata, Charshankhchura, Amatia, Palerbazar, Lamkain, Roha, Bagua, Khurshidmahal, are being damaged and some small and large holes have been developed. This road is becoming unfit for movement day by day. The passenger bus and taxi don’t move on this road. The drivers of the laden-truck does not want to come to this road. Everyday some vehicles are getting out of order to move on this road increasing the road accidents largely.
Manager Bimol Brahmma of MS Shamim Enterprize said, Roads and Highway Department had did a mistake to prepare the estimate cost and for that extra one crore allotment has been demanded. After approval of the extra allotment the repairing work will be started.
