A three-member delegation of internationally renowned environmentalists led by Dr J Craig Jenkins, Professor of Sociology, Political Science and Environmental Science of Ohio State University, USA called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique on Monday at the latter’s office of the university.
Other members of the delegation were Dr Javier Chercoles, Team Leader of IDMVS-SIMON Project and Dr Nazmun N Ratna, Prof of Lincoln University, New Zealand.
Pro-VC of Bangladesh Open University Prof Dr Khandoker Mokaddem Hossain and
Director of the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS) Prof Dr Mahbuba Nasreen were present on the occasion.
During the meeting, they stressed the need for strengthening on-going research programmes on various environmental issues including disaster science and management jointly conducted by the University of Dhaka and Ohio State University, USA.
Earlier, the delegation members delivered their lectures in a daylong international seminar on “Challenges of Climate Change and Resilience” organised by the IDMVS of DU at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
