Staff Reporter :
The two city corporations of Dhaka have begun to remove all posters, festoons and banners used as campaigning stuffs during the 11th National polls.
As part of removing posters and banners, Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sayeed Khokon on Wednesday asked the concerned authorities of the corporation to remove all campaigning stuffs within next 48 hours.
“I ask concerned authority to remove all posters, banners, and other campaign materials used during the 11th parliamentary election,” the DSCC mayor said it while inaugurating the expedition to remove the election materials in front of Suritola Government Primary School in the city.
Councilors and officials of DSCC were present.
The mayor also requested the cooperation from all the candidates who participated in the 11th national election in this regard.
He said our workers will try their utmost to remove all stuffs. But it may not be possible for the city corporation’s workers alone to clear all posters and banners as there are huge lanes and by-lanes in the city of two crore people.
If the newly elected MP’s and our party men come together in this regards, it will be very helpful to do the work.
The Dhaka North City Corporation also initiated such a programme from January 1.
When contacted, DNCC Chief Executive Officer Mesbahul Islam on Wednesday told The New Nation, “We have started the poster removing programme from the first day of this new year and hope to complete soon.”
