BNP Chittagong Unit demanded removal of DC of Chittagong for alleged extending assurance to release the convicted Chhatra league city secretary Nurul Azim Rony from jail who was arrested with arms during UP polls in Hathazari in Chittagong on May 7 last. BNP city and north district unit jointly issued a press statement demanding removal of deputy commissioner from chittagong within 48 hours.
City BNP President Amir Khasru Mahmud chowdhiury told this correspondent that a responsible govt senior official can not take part in favour of a convicted accused
The statement was told that govt officials are paid salary and other benefits from the tax reveniue of the citizen and they can not t ake part in favour of any po litical party men. Mentionable that Nurul Azim Rony, a BCL leader was arrested with a rms by the mobile court during polls time in Hathazari upazila.
After his arrerst, Judicial Magistrate convicted the BCL leader with 2 years imprisonment . On the other hand Ctg Deputy commissioner assured the BCL leaders for providing assistance to release Rony from jail custody.
